As part of the education of a young lady in England, she would often combine a lesson in stitchery with a lesson in geography to complete a map such as this one.

This example was made by Ann Holbrook in 1796, and remains in its original gold frame. It measures 22 1/2" tall and 18" wide overall. The condition is excellent, and retains lovely pastel-colored thread in the border and cartouche.
