This ink and watercolor masterpiece was "Executed by Stanley Hutchinson at Mr. B. Jackson's Academy / Fountayne Street Leeds" Benjamin Jackson's Academy is listed as a boarding school in Leeds in 1822, and probably existed before and after that date.
Stanley Hutchinson used a combination of ink and watercolor to create this detailed map of England and Wales, and in the margins he illustrated astronomical phenomena. The bottom is filled in with calligraphic figures, demonstrating young Stanley's ability in many areas!
There are some stains and discoloration, but these certainly do not detract from this wonderful schoolboy's sampler. Overall measurements are 21 1/2" x 27 3/4."
