Elephants became the rage in Great Britain in the third quarter of the 19th century when the famous elephant Jumbo was in London before he was sold to P.T.Barnum. Likenesses of Jumbo were popular, and the Staffordshire potters were always ready to jump on a fad.
This pair of "Jumbos" are spill vases, and are in perfect condition.
