Street lived from 1796-1845. He captured the beautiy of this unknown lady in 1834 and signed this oil on canvas above her left shoulder. We love the way Street signed onto the column, painting the letters so that they appear to be carved into the stone. We also love the attention to the details of her jewelry; especially the way the watch is tucked into her bodice so that you only see part of it.
The painting has been professionally cleaned, relined, and set into a marvelous period gilt frame measuring 30&fr12" by 35ΒΌ" overall.
