According to the "Potteries" website, S & Sons were in operation in Sunderland between 1829-38, and were known as the Southwick Pottery.

This charming jug has transfers of flowers on the handle, beneath the spout, and around the rim, both inside and out. One side has a lovely verse welcoming the "noble bark of brightest fame" back to England's shores. No doubt this was made to commemorate a ship returning from a battle. The reverse side has "A West View of the Cast Iorn Bridge..." etc. and the transfer clearly shows the pottery oven on the right side of the bridge.

There is a little bit of wear to the lustre around the rim, but otherwise this little gem is in great condition. Heigt is 4.75".
