Built in 1882 by Smith & Townsend at East Boston, Mass., the Penobscot was commissioned by the Boston & Bangor Steamship Company. First painted by C.R. Parsons in 1883, it became a popular lithograph published by Currier & Ives.
This anonymous oil on canvas dates from c. 1900 ins is set in its original gold frame (29 ½” by 47 ½” overall). The condition is flawless.
