This unusual Windsor is branded "S. Tracy" on the bottom. Stephen Tracy was a nephew of Ebenezer Tracy, the prolific Connecticut chairmaker.

Stephen worked in Plainfield, New Hampshire around 1815-20 when this chair was made. Note the rare comb-back, the undisturbed natural finish and the clean, simple lines.
