Devout families in the 19th century would often hang plaques such as this one in their homes to remind them of their mortality, and the fact that they'd best behave in preparation for the next phase.

We find these plaques graphically pleasing. This one is simpler than many; its frame is not the usual elaborate Victorian type.

It measures 6½" x 5¾" and would hang nicely on its own or as part of a collection.
