SOLD 1828 Lustre Pitcher |
This lovely pink lustre piece was made for John Dobson in 1828. One side has the farmer's arm , depicting many farm tools as well as a bottle of wine, a punch bowl, pipes and wine glasses in the center. On the right is a farmer's wife churning butter and on the left is the farmer himself with a shovel and an axe. The banner beneath the pcitures says "Success to the Farmer / The Husbandmans diligence provides bread." Beneath this are sheep, a cow and a horse. The reverse side has a verse about how great it is to be a farmer and all of the advantages there are to this way of life. In exccellent condition, and 6¾" tall. |
