SOLD An Early and Perhaps Unique Chair Table |
What makes this survivor nicer than any other we have seen is that when used as a chair, the top is not squared off on the upper edge, but rather it is diamond shaped. Also there is an interesting angle to the arms, which conforms to the configuration of the top and is visually intriguing whtn the top is up. The entire piece is crafted in maple, retaining its original feet and two-board top. It is New England origin, circa 1710-40. A related example is pictured on p. 114 of The Furniture of Historic Deerfield. |
