SOLD An Early New England Tavern Table |
Dating from c. 1700-30, this table has survived in pristine condition. Worth noting is the rake of the legs and the original two-board oval top with a generous overhang. All in tiger maple. A virtually identical example is illustrated on p. 257 of The New Fine Points of Furniture by Albert Sack. He identifies this as "better" than most, which is good enough for us! Top measures 22" by 31"; 24½" tall. |
