SOLD A Perfect Chair |
Most museums and advanced collectors would agree that this tenoned arm Windsor is without equal. Note the solid mahogany arms, the pinched in legs and the pipestem-turned spindles (nine rather than the usual seven). These are all typical of Rhode Island chair makers at their very best. Victorian black over the original green. C. 1780-1800, and in pristine condition. See Santore "Windsor Style in America" Vol. I # 138 for a similar example. |
