This exceptional penwork game board has alternating squares of flowers and chinoiserie designs. Each square on the board is different; there are no repeats! The border is a joyous design of cornucopias and flowing floral motifs.
The game board was created, most likely by a talented lady, around 1800-1820. It measures 20" square. It was attached to a stylish Victorian base at some point in its history.
The top has signs of wear, mostly a few scratches, and also a little lifting of the surface wood. It could easily be removed from the base and hung on the wall (something I debated doing, but decided to leave it for someone else to decide).
