These are quite scarce, and prized by collectors. This one is beautiful filigree work. If you don't know what it is, I will tell you. It was used by ladies who were doing fine lace knitting in delicate silk or linen. They would put the bracelet around their wrist, and the yarn would rest in the hinged ball section. Thus they could sit prettily and do their work with an elegant and feminine adornment.
