We have seen English samplers of this type, but never one with a Chinese or Chinoiserie vase of flowers stitched into the design.

This one was worked by Maria Hill in 1776, and has darns in black and white in each corner. The Chinoiserie vase is sitting atop a mound stitched in pattern darning.

It measures 15½" by 13%frac14" overall, and is in a period frame.
