This pair of Staffordshire figures represents the sailor going off to sea, saying goodbye to his sweetheart, and later coming home with to find her still waiting for him (especially because he is holding a bag of money!). This was a particularly popular theme in England in the early to mid 19th century, and these figures were made around 1830

They are decorated in overglaze enamels, and have nice bocage. They are in good condition with only a little bit of touch-up to some of the enamels.
