One of New Zealand's most prolific and treasured maritime artists, Barnes was himself a sailor and painted this oil on academy board in the 1890s in Wellington. The museums there and in Auckland have many of his marine paintings on display. This example is in a period gold frame measuring 27" by 36.5" overall.
