Ceramics
Ceramics Archives
SOLD Sunderland Jug Crimea and Sailor's Farewell
This jug has the Sailor's Farewell on one side, a Crimean War transfer on the other, and beneath the spout a lovely verse which begins "Remember me, / When this you see.."
Puzzling is the fact that the jug is named and dated G. A. Gardner 1867, and the Crimean War ended in 1853. Perhaps it is commemorating Mr. Gardner's death as a Crimean War hero? (just my hypothesis)
7.25" tall and in excellent condition with the usual bit of wear to the lustre around the rim.
$750.00 SOLD
