"Sweet, oh Sweet is that Sensation / Where two hearts in union meet, / But the pain of Separation, / Mingles bitter with the Sweet." This is the charming verse beneath the print of the Sailor's Farewell on this Sunderland jug. The reverse side has a print of the iron bridge which includes the pottery complete with a smoking bottle oven.

6.75" tall. Some wear to lustre around the rim; a firing crack near the base of the spout and another one on the footrim. Otherwise, just fine!
