Look again! At first glance, this colorful needlework picture appears to be on silk, but upon closer examination you will see that it is embroidered on paper. It must have been kept in a drawer for many years, as the condition is near perfect and all the colors are as they originally appeared.

It is a naive scene of a church with a flowerpot on a plinth to the left of a willow tree towering over the church. The colorful border is comprised of roses and other flowers. On the reverse is a note that says "American schoolgirl needlework," but we don't believe it. To our eye, this appears to have more of a European feeling, but we could be wrong!

Overall dimensions are 13¾" by 18" and the gold mat is new, mounted into a period wood frame.
