This gentleman had his silhouette cut by the great Edouart in Saratoga Springs in 1844. Notice the details of the background...library with a bust (of Shakespeare?), inkwell, and a church outside the window. Obviously a man of learning and religion.

It rests in its original frame, and measures 14¼" by 10¾" overall, and is signed lower right.
