This elaborately decorated walnut spinning wheel was used for flax (to make linen), and was made on the Continent in the mid 19th century. It is in full working order, and even retains its original distaff.

The decoration is superb, with applied hearts and other motifs in contrasting wood and ivory.

It is small, measuring only 25" overall, including the distaff.
