These creamware plates were made in England and shipped to the Netherlands to be decorated. They are two from the series that told the story of the Prodigal Son.
One plate depicts the Prodigal Son having a fine time in the tavern with the naughty ladies. Note the glasses and tureen on the table, as well as the nicely embellished table cover. The second plate shows the Prodigal Son when he has run out of money and has taken a job feeding the pigs. We love the way the pigs are painted here, with their big black spots!
There is a small chip on one plate around 10:00, otherwise they are in great condtion. They measure just under 10" diameter.
