This beautifully painted portrait shows a young woman holding a rendering of her country home. It is no doubt a wedding portrait; is this the house she is moving into, or is it her wedding gift to her new husband? Unfortunately, we’ll never know. We do know, however, that she was painted around 1810, and is Continental, perhaps French.

She’s been professionally cleaned and relined, and has a few spots of touch-up in the background. 29 ½” 36” overall. Later frame.
