This lovely Whieldon teapot has a tipped flower knop and intertwined handles with floral terminals. At some point in its life (probably in the early 19th century) it was damaged, and rather than disposing of it, the owner had a silversmith add a silver rim to the cover and a silver tip to the spout. The cover was then attached with a chain. Circa 1770. 4 1/2' tall. (or thereabout) |
