This colorful sampler was worked by Hannah Bowkett, probably in England, in the early 19th century. She describes the "works of the flesh" and the "fruit of the spirit" in great detail, listing all of the vices and virtues. Her lovely Georgian home is shown, along witth the grounds and many of the animals and birds. In the upper right and left corners are dovecotes. In excellent condtion, with only one minor hole. The colors are still bright and there are no missing letters. Sampler is 13" wide x 14 3/4" tall, excluding the frame. |
