![]() Miniature Sampler ![]() |
This sweet small-sized sampler was stitched in 1842 by the 24-year-old Sarah Pellan. It is most unusual to find a sampler of this sort made by a woman in her 20s. We can make up some stories here---perhaps she was doing it along with someone younger--"I'll make one if you make one!"---or perhaps she only learned to sew when she reached her late teens or early 20s. Whatever the reason, she made a delightful little example of stitchery. 8½" x 7" overall. |
