"The History of the Quartern Loaf" was a child's book written in the 1820s. It shows all of the steps involved in making a loaf of bread. A quartern loaf refers to the amount of flour used; in this case it would have been a quarter of a stone, which is about 3½ pounds, and the finished loaf would weigh about 4 pounds. Overall measurements are 14" by 12" and it is in an old molded frame. Printed on cotton. |
