This elegant coffee pot could possibly have been made for the American market in the early 1800s. It is in excellent condition, and stands 10½" tall.

On the rim of the pot, as well as the tip of the spout, there is a funny unglazed section (rim pictured) with a crosshatched design. Possibly someone was preparing the pot for a chip restoration....any other ideas?

There is a mark on the bottom, as well as a brown mark under the glaze, probably indicating the decorator's mark.
